1.) Your a fellow mystery fanatic, and love the whimsical tales of Mr Sherlock Holmes (50 points for you)

2.) Your business has come to a crashing halt, because your mind has literally hit the wall aka “Information Overload” (no points for you)

Now don’t get me wrong I could talk all day about the amazing adventures of Mr. Holmes, but that’s a conversation for another day my friend. What I wanna talk about right now, is one of the main reasons a lot of home businesses end up failing miserably, and adding to that horrific 97% failure rate.

So what exactly is “Information Overload!”?

(It would add to the dramatic effect, if you read that in a over dramatized voice, like “Attack of the Giant Ants!’, Got it?)

An overload of information, is basically where your eyes are bigger than your mind… Meaning you try to absorb every single morsel, and golden nugget of useful knowledge on a number of subjects all at the same time! Now don’t get me wrong, knowledge is power, but when you try to feed your brain more than it can handle…Well it’s on the same level as you trying to find the end to the all you can eat buffet…

I will spare you the graphic detail, but just know that it’s no bueano my friend.

So you can see how why too much information at once is a huge problem. And yes, I know there are a lot of contributing factors to this growing epidemic. I mean it seems like 10 new “Guru’s” are popping up every week, trying to pitch their ultra, mega, super duper, guaranteed to work secret marketing tactics in some WAY overpriced ebook / training course…And just like you, I have fallen victim to this crap time and time again, only to discover it’s the same rehashed crap from 2008, and 2009, just with a 2010 cover.

So what is one to do, to sort out the valuable info from the rest of the shizer out there, all while managing to avoid information overload…?

Well I can recommend  a few things.

1.) Stick with one subject at a time. Master it, and them move onto the next… There is no point in trying to learn, Media Buying, PPC, SEO, and Social Media all at the same time, you’ll lose money, get no where, and absolutely hate life!

2.) Pick one to two experts to learn from at a time / subject. A lot of these so called “Guru’s” are only hyping them selves up based on their fake twitter following. Look for the legit guys like Mike Dillard, Frank Kern, or even Yanik Silver.

And alas, I have one more recommendation, that will not only save you a lot of time, and money, but also a lot of heart ache as well. If you really want to stay on track, and focused on what is working now!, and not rehashed, out of date crap from two years ago…
